Hello, I think that this is the first time that I have posted in this forum. I have recently downloaded the (then) latest version of Simutrans (99.11), having played, briefly, a much earlier version of Simutrans some time ago, and having played, very many years ago indeed, Transport Tycoon, and enjoyed it, but become frustrated at its limitations (most notably, the passengers who don't mind where they go, but will pay more the further that they are taken from where they start).
Although Simutrans was somewhat harder to get into that Transport Tycoon, the gameplay is evidently substantially more rich, which makes the whole thing more rewarding. I managed to make a successful passenger only network starting in the 1870s, although had some problems with that (which I will post about in another thread). The team who make Simutrans are all evidently very dedicated to making this lovely game for us all for free, which is always a good thing. It is especially good to see the project moving towards an open-source model, which has the potential to make improvements in the future even greater than they have been to date. Thank you all for making such an interesting, deep and rewarding game available for free - it is much appreciated.
