Fresh to simutrans; not to Linux.
Delete offering select for multiple objects?
I could not find this topic in any extension request but I might have overlooked a thread.

If a car is stuck on a tile which contains a road, a powerline and a bus stop it is very hard to get rid of the car.

Would it be possible to get a select list if one wants to remove something from a tile?

At present the first thing to be deleted is the powerline, then the bus stop and the third one is the broken car of some citizen who left his wreck on the road.

Pressing control alters (reverses) the order in which objects are removed from a tile.

I have long desired a "Delete" toolbar that would allow you to select the class of item you wanted to delete... There's a molding extension request for precisely this somewhere... if I have time later, I'll see if it's mergable. Smiley

OTOH, it could make the game quite cumbersome - even if there are a few cases when specifying what you actually want to delete would be very useful, there are also many cases when deleting the way the game suggests is just what you need, and having to select the right option for each tile could be more of a kerfuffle...

(but that's the reason for a toolbar that you'd only open when necessary - leave the existing delete options as they are Cheesy )

There could be such an option dialog to set what the delete tool is supposed to remove, like the players dialog.

I'd actually think that maybe specific delete tools would be better, like a "delete all the citycars from this square" tool, it doesn't delete anything else, just the citycars... Would be even better if it worked like the way deletion tools, deleting all the cars between point A and B...

How about delete working as always while delete+Ctrl opening the abovementioned menu? That way, we could avoid creating an enormous toolbar with all possible tools it would be hard to learn for a new user...

Either I am doing something wrong (trying 'r' and then Ctrl+Click), or this is not the case (any more?), it's always the standard order here.

With the standard deletion order (e.g. in ST 99.07, tested both pak64 and pak128 on Win-GDI+SDL), electrification is deleted before city cars and pedestrians. I think the latter should always be removed before any infrastructure.

I like that idea about menu opening when there is more than one item to delete. Also would be nice to have tooltip/other message to show what will be deleted if clicked when hovering delete cursor over item. I too many times delete roadtiles when trying to delete cars in intersections.

What about a tool just deleting citycars and another one deleting both cars and infrastructures? wink
