Arctic theme pak (Split from: Townhalls)
Hehehe, I HAD to do this  woot

First is a single administrative building, that rapidlyn grows into a full community.

Then you can see a semidetached igloo, here lives the major, and due to new heating systems, he'd rapidly grow a love for exotic animals, such as monkeys, he has at least 8! This leads me to present next townhall upgrade. A bit larger and somewhat peculiar.

The final hall is an impregnable snowfort.

All in 5 minutes, oh yeah

Re: Townhalls
Don't you think the first townhall in your painted picture is *too* small for a *townhall* which is 2*2 in size? It should fill most of the space as the current one, I think. Anyway, going towards another great feature in this wonderful game!!!

Re: Townhalls
I agree that igloos are small than palaces/forts. But then if igloo is the townhall then what would the other buildings in tundra climate be... (I meant this way. In fact townhalls need to be grander than other city buildings, don't they?)

If in artic we only create townhalls, the only building of the whole town would be the townhall Smiley.

But if you're really REALLY serious about this...

...then here you go

Bring on the penguins and polar bears!!1 Linux

I have a funny picture at home about a penguin and a polar bear. I'll show it later

Do I know too much? Possibly

People have a short attention span, now, conditioned I suppose by 60 minute TV shows and 2 hour movies in which everything comes out okay.  The real world is not like that.  It is messy, uncertain, and sometimes bloody and ugly.  Always has been, and probably always will be.

I know I'm being a smart-[...] now, but you are aware that polar bears and penguins never avtually get to see each other, right?

Maybe in zoos.

@packer: I had considered adding "exept maybe in zoos" but decided against it. Guess I was wrong there...

Re: Arctic theme pak (Split from: Townhalls)
Are those igloos made out of pykrete? That's a type of ice that's harder than concrete (heck, bullets bounce of the [...] stuff  and it takes forever to melt) Or just regular ice made by the people who carve ice with chain saws.

Further studies conclude that these igloos are made from a material called "Material".

Our scientists are trying to obtain its chemical composition. We've considered this material could be useful to make white lettering, even some components of the outer body of Shinkanshens. The most optimistic of us even wonder about the disguise capabilites this material would provide to buildings above the snow line.

We'll keep you informed.

Re: Arctic theme pak (Split from: Townhalls)
this is a snapshot of the process of snowcovering a building. Igloos are stolen from northern regions, then cutted into sections and brought to the construction site by truck. Then are raised to the exposed areas via fixed or mobile cranes. Then they need to be adapted to the surfaces they're covering, and since 'Material' seems to be very rigid at T=20ÂșC, special Termic Teams cut the sections into appropiately sized plaques and fix them to the structure.

It's a very expensive process, more when it has to be done every winter. This, together with the fact that little or no houses are available for sale in tropic or desert areas, make me think of some kind of high scale conspiration leaded by Material Manufacturers Inc.

Hmmm ponder

Too complicated, It being made out of Pykerete is simpler to understand. (or painted concrete)

I don't build them, just chop them out for my winter set. Tell the Iglooians about Pykerete. Smiley

Enough with the Pykerete obsession already!

Incase you didn't get raven's "joke(s)", let me explain:
Raven created the igloos in Blender
Igloos need to be white
Default surface in Blender appears as white and called "Material" (as shown in the screenshot).
Hence raven just left the models untextured - with the "material" surface.

The pictures of snow being added to the buildings are another joke, and Iglooians are fictional, in case you hadn't realised that.

Boy, it took me quite a while to make that construction scene :-)

Thanks for explaining, I hadn't more jokes.

Re: Arctic theme pak (Split from: Townhalls)
Yeah, I was talking to one of the snow job guys the other day, and we got to talking about da biz.... I think he said it best:

"There's snow business, like show business, like no business I know."

And I agree. Neither show business nor snow business is like any I am familiar with.

(and now we see how far that movie and song have made it! hehehehe)
